CIELAP's Award for Advancing the Environmental Agenda

CIELAP’s Award for Advancing the Environmental Agenda aims to recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations that have contributed to changes in behaviour toward environmental issues and sustainability. These awards are presented at CIELAP's yearly Anniversary celebrations.

** On October 27 2005 at CIELAP's 35th Anniversary Celebration, CIELAP presented its 3rd Award for Advancing the Environmental Agenda to the NPRI Working Group. The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) provides Canadians with access to information on the releases and transfers of key pollutants in their communities. The NPRI Work Group is made up of representatives from Industry, Non-government organizations, and Federal, Provincial and Aboriginal governments. The Work Group is responsible for preparing recommendations to Environment Canada. The award was presented to Environment Canada; Canadian Environmental Network; and the Industry Caucus on behalf of all of the members of the working group.

** On October 28 2004 CIELAP presented its Awards for Advancing the Environmental Agenda to:
Zenon Environmental Inc. Zenon was founded from a desire to help the world overcome a growing water crisis. Zenon is a world leader in immersed membrane technology, providing solutions for municipalities, industries, land development and emergency applications.
The Waterkeepers The Waterkeeper Alliance is a grassroots organization that champions clean water and strong communities. The Waterkeeper Alliance connects and supports local Waterkeeper programs to provide a voice for waterways and their communities world wide.
Dr. David Schindler Dr. Schindler, a Killam Memorial Professor of Ecology at the University of Alberta, is one of the world’s leading environmental scientists and a pioneer in the study of freshwater lake systems. His work has been widely used in formulating ecologically sound management policy in Canada, the USA and Europe.

** On September 29 2003 CIELAP presented the 1st Award for Advancing the Environmental Agenda to Prime Minister Jean Chretien for leading Canada to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.
